Hi Marquitux,

Lumiera is being built based internally on a node graph, so it seems
reasonable that at some point we'll have a user visible node viewer or
editor. Moreover, there is a lot of cooperation regarding the low level
handling and treating of video and media between Lumiera and the OME
folks. As you probably know, we are currently not at the point of
worrying about how to edit nodes or to export/import to other Apps ;-)
I'm sure we'll find out about it while we go...

In the context of Lumiera there an additional problem with any "node
editor" approach. Because Lumiera is focused rather on editing larger
movie projects (and not so much on animation style work), the aspect
of how to organize the tasks and how to get a smooth workflow is
important. Especially for node editing, it isn't sufficient to be
able to manipulate and tweak the data processing graph at a given
point in my project. In the context of a larger project, this isn't
much of a solution, rather it's creating new problems all over the
place. We'd need a way how to do such a manipulation or customisation
consistently "at every relevant location" all over the project.

Such is possible for sure, but it's demanding: while every half-decent
programmer knows basically how to deal with node editing and node graphs
locally -- it's pretty much obvious -- there is no general off-the-shelf
solution for the real problem mentioned above, so we are bound to
consider the specific situation and work out a usable system and
approach for the specific situation and workflow we are aiming at.

Cheers,
Hermann Vosseler
