A completely useless rendering stack that does runtime binding of formats etc. What you want can perfectly be achieved with a 'normal' commandline program that hooks up to ffmpeg. In that way you are also able to cut scenes, directly dub them to dvd. But the use for a programma like Lumiera comes in with composition, stuff you cannot do with normal tools and are hard to do by commandline interfaces. For straightforward editing my bet is on dvswitch.
